Israel says it acted alone to stop Iran from making nuclear bombs

Published on: June 14, 2025 2:41 PM

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, claimed that recent Israeli strikes on Iran were carried out for national self-defense, following intelligence reports that Iran was close to producing materials required for nuclear bombs.

Speaking at the UN Security Council, Danon stated, “We had intelligence suggesting Iran could develop bomb-grade nuclear material within days. We waited for diplomacy, but when it failed, we acted alone—for our protection.”

Meanwhile, China’s UN Ambassador Fu Cong strongly condemned Israel’s military actions, calling them a violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He urged Israel to immediately halt its operations against Iran to avoid further escalation.

Adding to the global concern, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the situation between Iran and Israel had grown dangerously tense. He emphasized that now is the time to de-escalate and prioritize peace and diplomacy over war.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also condemned Israel’s strikes, calling them a serious breach of Iran’s sovereignty and international law. The OIC warned that Israel’s actions could endanger regional peace and stability, and urged the global community to act quickly to stop the aggression.

Tensions have risen sharply after both countries exchanged missile attacks, with videos emerging of destruction in Tel Aviv reportedly caused by Iranian retaliatory strikes.
