PML-N issues 37 AJK election tickets

Published on: June 20, 2026 5:14 PM

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has issued party tickets for 37 of 45 constituencies ahead of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections. The party is expected to finalize the remaining eight tickets within the next two days. The development is significant for the upcoming polls and affects electoral strategies across key constituencies.

According to party sources, consultations on the remaining seats have entered the final stage. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have assigned election responsibilities to Rana Sanaullah and Amir Muqam. Both leaders are continuing meetings with potential candidates to complete the selection process.

Sources said discussions regarding the inclusion of Chaudhry Muhammad Azhar Sadiq in PML-N and his participation in the elections have been completed. Meanwhile, Yasin Gulshan is likely to receive the party ticket from Abbaspur. Former government minister Chaudhry Shehzad has also decided to join PML-N from the Lachhrat constituency.

In other developments, Malik Nawaz is expected to secure the party ticket from Raj Mahal Kotli. Similarly, Sardar Javed Sharif is likely to be nominated as the PML-N candidate from Rawalakot’s LA-22 constituency. Party officials are working to finalize all pending nominations before the formal election campaign gains momentum.

Meanwhile, the names of remaining candidates have been sent to Nawaz Sharif for final approval. Party leadership has also decided to maintain close contact with leaders who do not receive tickets to ensure discipline and unity. The move aims to prevent internal divisions as PML-N prepares for a competitive electoral contest in Azad Kashmir.
