Balochistan CM Bugti acts to tackle fuel and food shortages near Iran border

Published on: June 23, 2025 2:54 PM

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti held an urgent meeting on Sunday to address food and fuel shortages reported in districts near the Iran border. The shortages followed rising tensions from the Iran-Israel conflict.

During the meeting, CM Bugti reviewed the current supply situation, security status, and arrangements for the safe return of pilgrims and students stranded in Iran. Officials updated him on ongoing management efforts and future plans.

While some officials denied any food shortage, reports from residents suggested supply disruptions. In response, the chief minister ordered departments to guarantee continuous food and fuel supplies and to seek alternative sources for electricity and LPG.

Bugti also highlighted the importance of close coordination with federal authorities, especially the petroleum ministry, to ensure fuel deliveries reach the border regions without interruption. He stressed swift and cooperative action to support affected communities.

Additionally, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) was directed to prepare contingency plans to respond immediately if emergencies arise in these border areas.

The chief minister’s proactive measures aim to protect residents from the impact of regional instability and maintain essential services despite challenges posed by the ongoing conflict.
