Dar highlights Pakistan’s role in promoting global peace during UN call

Published on: July 14, 2025 1:56 PM

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar spoke with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Sunday to discuss shared concerns and ongoing cooperation. The call took place as Pakistan holds the presidency of the UN Security Council for July.

During the conversation, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to international peace, security, and resolving conflicts through dialogue. He emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to supporting the peaceful settlement of disputes worldwide.

The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted key events Pakistan is organizing this month under its UNSC presidency. These events aim to advance global peace initiatives and strengthen international collaboration on security matters.

Both leaders expressed their eagerness to meet in New York next week during various activities related to Pakistan’s leadership of the Security Council. They agreed on the importance of continuing their partnership to address pressing global challenges.

Dar further stressed Pakistan’s ongoing support for the United Nations and its personnel. He assured that Pakistan remains committed to helping the UN effectively carry out its vital peacekeeping and humanitarian missions.

As Pakistan leads the UNSC this month, its active engagement reflects the country’s desire to contribute constructively to global stability and cooperation among nations.
