Lahore: City Traffic Police Lahore has launched the installation of CM Punjab QR Panic Buttons in public transport vehicles under the Chief Minister Punjab’s vision of a safer and more secure Punjab.
At Liberty Chowk, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, personally installed QR Panic Buttons in rickshaws as part of the initiative. With the support of the President of the Awami Rickshaw Union, more than 100 rickshaws have been equipped with QR Panic Buttons during the initial phase.
Speaking on the occasion, CTO Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said that QR Panic Buttons will gradually be installed in all buses, wagons, rickshaws, and taxis operating in Lahore. He added that citizens can obtain QR Panic Buttons free of cost through the Public Safety App and the Safe City website.
The campaign is also focused on educating commuters and transport operators about the usage, benefits, and safety features of the QR Panic Button system. In an emergency, passengers can instantly alert the Police and Punjab Safe Cities Authority by scanning the QR Panic Button.
The system enables the immediate transmission of a passenger’s live location and vehicle details to law enforcement agencies, ensuring a rapid response to emergencies. CTO Lahore stated that City Traffic Police Lahore will take prompt action on alerts received through the Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi further noted that the QR Panic Button system will significantly enhance the safety of women, students, and millions of daily commuters who rely on public transport services.
The initiative represents a collaborative effort between City Traffic Police Lahore and the Punjab Safe Cities Authority to transform public transport into a modern digital safety network and provide citizens with safer, smarter, and more secure travel facilities.
