Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit Qatar again, this time to attend the Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit scheduled for September 15 in Doha.
According to the Foreign Office, the summit has been convened in response to escalating Israeli airstrikes and the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Palestine. The summit will focus on Israel’s alleged attempts to occupy Gaza, as well as its ongoing expansion in the West Bank.
Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan confirmed that PM Shehbaz has been officially invited and will attend the summit alongside heads of state, foreign ministers, and senior officials from member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Khan added that forced evictions of Palestinians and Israel’s violation of international law will also be raised during the discussions. The summit aims to build a unified Islamic stance on the issue and seek international pressure to halt Israeli aggression.
This marks PM Shehbaz Sharif’s second visit to Qatar within a week. On September 11, he visited Doha for a one-day trip to express solidarity with Qatar following Israeli airstrikes near the capital. During that visit, he met with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and condemned the attack as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and regional peace.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Palestinian rights, promoting peace, and upholding international law.
