Tom Holland is swinging into recovery mode. The actor is hitting pause on Spider-Man: Brand New Day after getting injured while filming a stunt on Sept. 19, multiple outlets reported.
Tom reportedly suffered a mild concussion on the Glasgow, Scotland, set and will take a break from filming out of an abundance of caution. However, he is expected to step back into his Spider-Man suit in a few days, according to reports. E! News has reached out to Tom’s reps for comment and has not yet heard back. Although the 29-year-old is taking a brief step back from swinging through the sky, he was all smiles as he attended an event for his family’s charity The Brothers Trust in London on Sept. 20.
Tom hosted the third annual Posh Pub Quiz at Christie’s auction house with fiancée Zendaya-whom he proposed to earlier this year-by his side. Despite the Uncharted actor’s unfortunate mishap while shooting the Marvel movie-which is set to premiere on July 31, 2026-he’s previously emphasised that he is “over the moon” to be filming the fourth installment, especially after the pandemic hindered the last film.
“Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal,” he gushed to Flip Your Wig in July. “I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of Covid. We shot the entire film on stages.”
“Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow and we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we’re putting together,” he continued. “So it’s gonna feel like making Spider-Man 1 again.” With Spider-Man: Homecoming premiering in 2017, Tom noted that filming Brand New Day-which, along with Zendaya, will star Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas-is going to “feel like a breath of fresh air” this time around. As for what it’s like becoming Peter Parker once again? Tom shared insight into returning for his “fourth-ever day one on Spider-Man.”
“It’s funny, putting the suit on, it feels different this time, somehow,” he explained in Sony’s behind-the-scenes montage on Instagram last month. “It’s also the first time we ever had fans on set day one, so it’s really exciting to share this with them.” He concluded, “We’ve got some familiar faces on set. I’m just going to do my best, hopefully get it right, no pressure.”
