“A dark day for Pakistan”: Bilawal remembers Benazir Bhutto’s martyrdom

Published on: October 18, 2025 5:09 PM

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), called the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto a major act of terrorism. He said the killing was a deliberate conspiracy against Pakistan and its federation. Speaking at the Shaheed-e-Karsaz ceremony on October 18, Bilawal announced that the PPP Central Executive Committee will hold a meeting today to review the country’s political situation and challenges.

Bilawal described October 18 as one of the darkest days in Pakistan’s history, marking a large-scale terrorist attack. He praised Benazir Bhutto for bravely confronting terrorists and sacrificing her life for democracy. Despite the attack and loss of many party workers, Bilawal said Benazir remained fearless and continued her struggle for a better Pakistan. He emphasized that the PPP remains committed to advancing her vision and serving the people with dedication.

On social media platform X, Bilawal expressed that the Karsaz tragedy still feels like a fresh wound. He highlighted that over 177 party workers lost their lives defending democracy in the years following the attack. Bilawal called the assassination a well-planned act of terror, backed by forces of dictatorship and terrorism, but said the killers ultimately failed in their mission.

He stated that the blood of the martyrs helped democracy rise and flourish in Pakistan despite such attacks. Bilawal urged the nation to pledge that the sacrifices of the Karsaz martyrs will never be forgotten. He called on everyone to continue fighting for peace, democracy, and justice on all fronts to honor their legacy.
