KP CM: Tribes joined Pakistan by choice, deserve their rights

Published on: October 25, 2025 6:49 PM

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reaffirmed that the tribal people voluntarily joined Pakistan and will always remain loyal citizens of the country.

Speaking at a peace jirga in Bara, Afridi addressed criticism over his nomination and strongly demanded that the federal government immediately release the pending funds for the merged tribal districts. He stressed that the people of these areas are not asking for charity but for their constitutional rights. “We only seek justice and our due share, not alms,” he said.

The chief minister announced that his government would hold peace jirgas in every district to promote dialogue, unity, and stability. He said such initiatives would help rebuild trust between the state and tribal communities who have long suffered due to conflict and neglect.

Afridi praised the courage and patriotism of the tribal people, saying they stood shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan’s armed forces in restoring peace. He added that their sacrifices must be acknowledged through equal development, job opportunities, and access to basic services.

Concluding his address, Afridi vowed that his government would continue to prioritize the welfare and empowerment of the merged districts. He said true national strength lies in justice, inclusion, and the equal treatment of all citizens.
