Fawad Chaudhry says entire PTI wants Imran Khan’s release

Published on: November 1, 2025 9:52 AM

LAHORE: Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry has said that the entire PTI desires the release of its founding chairman, Imran Khan, and criticized those within the party who are allegedly creating hurdles in his release.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Fawad shared details of his recent meeting with PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) in Lahore. The meeting was also attended by former Sindh governor Imran Ismail and ex-MNA Mehmood Moulvi. He stated that they not only met Qureshi but also visited other PTI leaders detained in Kot Lakhpat Jail.

Fawad Chaudhry said that those who wish to keep Imran Khan behind bars “do not want the release of the party’s founding chairman” and accused them of creating unnecessary divisions within the party. He termed their stance “odd logic,” claiming such leaders are complicating matters for personal political gains.

He added that Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been unwell for the past few days and has been receiving visits from his family and constituents at the hospital. The former information minister emphasized that meeting an ailing colleague should not be politicized.

The meeting between the former PTI leaders and Shah Mahmood Qureshi is being seen as a significant political development, as it also touched on the broader political situation in the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Sources confirmed that the former PTI members have been in Lahore for the past two days and are maintaining regular contact with each other amid ongoing political shifts.
