“I am all because of Pakistan”: Talha Anjum issues heartfelt apology

Published on: November 20, 2025 4:44 PM

Pakistani rapper Talha Anjum apologised on Thursday after waving and draping himself in an Indian flag during a concert in Nepal, sparking social media outrage. He told fans on the 365 News show that the gesture was unintentional and explained the context behind it. Anjum said he holds Pakistan close to his heart and did not mean to offend anyone.

The incident occurred during Anjum’s performance of ‘Kaun Talha’, a diss track aimed at Indian rapper Naezy, when an audience member handed him an Indian flag. In the moment, he waved it and placed it over his shoulders, interpreting it as support from Indian fans present. He admitted later that he did not realise how long he held the flag.

Anjum initially defended his action online, saying, “My art has no borders,” and that he would do it again despite controversy. However, on the show, he issued an unconditional apology. “To everybody whose heart has been hurt by any of my actions, I would like to apologise,” he said, reaffirming his loyalty to Pakistani fans.

The controversy comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, where cultural exchanges remain restricted since the May conflict. Indian platforms have removed Pakistani music, and social media accounts of Pakistani creators have faced blocks, making cross-border gestures more sensitive than ever.

Anjum concluded by emphasising his gratitude to Pakistani fans, saying, “If you are not there, then I am not there. I am all because of Pakistan.” He stressed that his success and identity as a rapper are rooted in his home country.
