Pakistan, Iran pledge closer ties as DPM meets Larijani

Pakistan and Iran reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Iran’s security chief, Dr. Ali Larijani, on Tuesday. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation across diverse sectors and addressing regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Larijani is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan to hold talks with political and military-security leaders. The Iranian Embassy in Islamabad called the visit unprecedented and historic, marking a new strategic phase in Pakistan-Iran relations. Both sides emphasized the importance of fraternal ties and sustained regional security.

Before arriving, Larijani highlighted Pakistan as a “friend and brotherly country” in the region. He recalled Pakistan’s support during the 12-day war imposed on Iran by the United States and Israel, praising the solidarity of the Pakistani people.

The Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, described the visit as a “historic milestone” that will elevate already strong relations between the two nations. He emphasized the importance of strategizing to strengthen bilateral cooperation amid evolving regional dynamics.
