Pakistan achieved a significant academic victory after Indian speakers withdrew at the last minute from a verified Oxford Union debate, according to the Pakistan High Commission in London. Notable Pakistani participants included Gen (R) Zubair Mehmood Hayat, former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, and Dr Muhammad Faisal, who were present in London for the debate. The Indian delegation, featuring Gen MM Naravane, Dr Subramaniam Swamy, and Sachin Pilot, pulled out just before the event. The High Commission noted that India attempted to replace its prominent speakers with lesser-known participants, which failed to meet the standards of the Pakistani team. This last-minute substitution undermined both the credibility and balance of the debate. The High Commission called the withdrawal a continuation of India’s diplomatic and rhetorical failures since May 2025, highlighting its reluctance for dialogue and accountability. Pakistan, by contrast, was fully prepared with reasoned, confident, and lawful arguments.
