Published on: December 16, 2025 3:39 PM

Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have officially announced the release date for Grand Theft Auto 6, set for Thursday, November 19, 2026. The game will launch exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with the PC edition expected between late 2026 and 2027.

The delay from the previously planned May 2026 window is aimed at ensuring the game meets Rockstar’s “level of polish,” according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. He emphasized that the extra time will allow the team to deliver the best possible version, rather than rushing development.

GTA 6 returns players to Vice City, reimagined in the fictional state of Leonida, a satirical take on Florida. The game introduces two main characters, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, marking the franchise’s first female lead. Trailers indicate a “Bonnie and Clyde” dynamic, showing the pair engaging in high-stakes crimes and evading law enforcement, with glimpses of Lucia in prison garb.

Industry analysts predict that pre-order sales could surpass $1 billion, fueled by the game’s premium pricing. Speculation suggests GTA 6 may cost around $100, though Take-Two has not confirmed a price. The company stressed that the game will deliver “more value than what we charge.”

Take-Two also confirmed that GTA 6 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, reinforcing its position as a full-priced, premium release. Fans can expect a high-end experience with modernized graphics, immersive gameplay, and a story-driven narrative, continuing Rockstar’s legacy of blockbuster open-world games.
