CM Maryam praises Lahorites for safe basant celebration

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz lauded the residents of Lahore for following safety protocols during the Basant festival, highlighting their role in ensuring a secure and joyful celebration. She said that Lahorites upheld the trust placed in them by the government while enjoying the city’s vibrant festivities, reflecting responsibility and community spirit across the metropolis. The Chief Minister emphasized that the success of this year’s Basant was a result of collective cooperation and awareness among citizens.

Maryam Nawaz noted that Lahore appeared lively and colorful throughout the festival, with rooftops buzzing with energy while strictly adhering to the prescribed safety guidelines. She confirmed that no prohibited kite strings were reported, metallic wires were avoided, and essential public infrastructure, including transformers, remained protected from hazards. This careful monitoring allowed residents to enjoy the festival freely while preventing accidents and ensuring smooth celebrations across the city.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s proactive measures to safeguard public health and safety during Basant. A total of 200 mobile clinics and 21 field hospitals were deployed in various areas, providing immediate medical assistance to anyone in need. Authorities also conducted regular inspections and awareness campaigns, ensuring citizens understood and followed the “Safe Basant” model designed specifically to prevent accidents and maintain order.

Maryam Nawaz praised the disciplined approach of Lahorites, noting that adherence to safety SOPs played a crucial role in making the event successful and incident-free. She stressed that this year’s Basant could serve as a model for other cities, demonstrating that cultural festivities and public safety can coexist when citizens and authorities work together. The festival’s organization reflected careful planning, clear communication, and strong civic engagement.

The Chief Minister urged citizens to remain cautious as the festival concluded on its final day, reminding them to continue observing safety measures during post-festival activities. She also expressed confidence that Lahore’s experience would encourage other regions to adopt similar strategies, promoting safer celebrations nationwide. The success of this year’s Basant reinforced the importance of combining tradition with responsibility for community welfare.

CM Maryam concluded by expressing her gratitude to all residents, volunteers, and officials involved in organizing the festival safely. She noted that the collaborative efforts strengthened trust between the government and citizens, highlighting Lahore as a city where cultural heritage thrives alongside public safety, setting a benchmark for future events.
