
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring security for Chinese personnel and investments. He conveyed the assurance during a meeting with China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad. The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions following cross-border clashes with Afghanistan.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, both sides discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest. They agreed to maintain close coordination to promote peace, stability, and shared prosperity. Shehbaz emphasized providing a secure and conducive environment for Chinese workers, institutions, and projects operating in Pakistan.

The prime minister reaffirmed the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and China. He highlighted the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative. He also called for accelerating ongoing CPEC projects and expanding cooperation in agriculture, information technology, and mining.
Ambassador Jiang conveyed greetings from Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He reiterated Beijing’s firm support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and socio-economic development. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the trajectory of bilateral relations.

Earlier, China urged Pakistan and Afghanistan to exercise restraint and achieve a ceasefire. Beijing said it was deeply concerned about escalating clashes and offered to play a constructive mediating role. Chinese officials confirmed they are engaging both countries through diplomatic channels to ease tensions.
