25 killed as heavy rains lash Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Published on: April 2, 2026 10:50 PM

At least 25 people have died and dozens injured in rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since March 25, authorities said Thursday. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported widespread damage, with 77 houses affected, including 33 destroyed. The worst-hit districts include Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Karak.

Rescue 1122 teams have been deployed to provide emergency assistance, including medical aid and temporary shelter for displaced families. Efforts are ongoing to clear debris and restore access to remote areas cut off by floods and landslides. Authorities urged residents to remain cautious and avoid traveling through affected regions.

The PDMA has issued alerts warning of continued rainfall in parts of the province, forecasting that the wet spell may last until April 4. Strong winds and storms under westerly weather are affecting large areas of the province.

Thunderstorms have also been reported across Balochistan and parts of Sindh, including Karachi. According to PDMA Balochistan, seven people have died in rain-related incidents so far.

Officials emphasised preparedness and called on communities to follow safety instructions. Relief operations, including rescue missions, medical support, and temporary shelters, remain ongoing to mitigate the impact of the continuing rains.
