Taylor Swift tops American Music Awards nominations with eight nods

Published on: April 15, 2026 2:15 PM

Taylor Swift has emerged as the leading nominee for this year’s American Music Awards (AMAs), earning eight nominations across major categories including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year.

Organisers announced that Swift’s nominated song “The Fate of Ophelia” and her album The Life of a Showgirl have both received top-category recognition. The singer, who holds the record for the most AMA wins in history, continues to dominate major music award circuits.

Swift, known for global hits such as “Bad Blood,” also saw massive success with her Eras Tour, which began in 2023 and went on to become the highest-grossing concert tour of all time. Her recent initiative of re-recording earlier albums has also influenced broader industry discussions around artists’ rights and ownership of music.

Close behind Swift in this year’s nominations are several prominent artists, including Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, SOMBR, and Morgan Wallen, each earning seven nominations. Carpenter is also competing in the Artist of the Year category, while Dean and SOMBR received their first-ever AMA nominations.

The awards also feature nominees linked to the Netflix animated musical KPop Demon Hunters, with performers EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami receiving nods in categories including Song of the Year and Best Vocal Performance for the track “Golden.”

Winners will be chosen through fan voting and announced at a live ceremony hosted by Queen Latifah in Las Vegas on May 25. The event will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.

AMA nominations are based on performance metrics such as Billboard chart rankings, streaming numbers, album sales, radio airplay, and social media engagement, reflecting both commercial success and fan popularity.
