oil tanker fire near Pasni
A fire that broke out in the crew living area of an oil tanker anchored near Pasni has been successfully extinguished, according to officials. The vessel had arrived from the UAE port of Fujairah carrying a large shipment of crude oil.

Sources from the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) said the incident occurred on the oil tanker’s crew accommodation section, with the captain’s cabin reportedly sustaining the most damage. However, the fire was brought under control and extinguished using the ship’s own emergency response systems.

Officials confirmed that the tanker was carrying around 85 million liters of oil from Fujairah and was anchored at or near Karachi Port when the incident was reported. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.

According to PNSC sources, the situation was managed internally without requiring external firefighting assistance. The crew responded quickly, preventing the fire from spreading to other critical sections of the vessel.

PNSC management later visited the ship and reviewed the situation. Officials noted that such incidents can occur at sea operations and are usually handled without major disruption to shipping activities.
