Giancarlo Esposito embraces Islam during Saudi filming work

Published on: June 21, 2026 3:41 PM

Hollywood actor Giancarlo Esposito, widely known for his iconic role as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has reportedly embraced Islam while working on a film project in Saudi Arabia. The development has drawn global attention as fans react to the actor’s reported personal decision during his stay in the Kingdom.

According to reports, Esposito was engaged in a major entertainment production in Saudi Arabia when the spiritual development took place. Sources linked to the project said he spent considerable time interacting with local colleagues and became familiar with Islamic practices during the filming process.

Moreover, Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, reportedly stated that Esposito formally accepted Islam after completing the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith. This moment marked his official entry into the religion and was shared widely across social platforms, generating strong public interest.

In addition, reports suggest that Esposito later joined members of the production crew in prayer at a mosque. A video circulating online is said to show him participating alongside colleagues, which further amplified discussions among fans and entertainment observers worldwide.

Furthermore, observers noted that his overall experience in Saudi Arabia played an important role in shaping his personal journey. He reportedly appreciated the hospitality, community environment, and supportive atmosphere he experienced while working on the production project.

Meanwhile, Esposito continues his professional commitments in the region, including involvement in the film “7 Dogs,” a large-scale production linked to Saudi Arabia’s growing entertainment industry. His reported conversion has added new public interest to both his career and ongoing projects.
