Karachi Imam Bargah vehicle crash

Police have declared the incident in Karachi’s Defence area, where a speeding vehicle crashed into a tent outside an Imam Bargah, as an accident following initial investigations. The incident resulted in the death of a young girl and left several others injured. The Karachi Imam Bargah vehicle crash remains under investigation, but authorities say no evidence of a planned attack has been found so far.

The incident occurred on the night of June 21 at around 9:30 p.m., when a vehicle lost control and rammed into a tent set up outside an Imam Bargah on Khayaban-e-Sehar in Defence. A total of 22 people were injured in the crash.

Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to Jinnah Hospital and later to various private hospitals for medical treatment. Emergency services remained active until all victims had been moved to safety.

According to DIG South Asad Raza, investigations involving the vehicle occupants are ongoing. He stated that statements and evidence collected so far support the conclusion that the incident was an accident and that no signs of planning or malicious intent have been discovered.

A young girl who was injured in the crash later died on June 22, while seven of the 22 injured victims remain under treatment, including two who are admitted to private hospitals. Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for further investigation. A case has been registered at Darakhshan Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act, along with charges related to attempted murder, property damage, and other offenses. Authorities say the Karachi Imam Bargah vehicle crash will continue to be investigated from all angles, while security around the Imam Bargah has been further strengthened.
