The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has added three more players to its ongoing red-ball training camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. Abdullah Shafique, Kamran Ghulam and Hamza Nazar have been included in the squad as preparations continue for upcoming red-ball assignments. The move reflects the board’s efforts to strengthen player depth and assess form ahead of future competitions.
The camp, organised under the supervision of the National Cricket Academy, focuses on enhancing players’ performance in longer-format cricket. Participants are taking part in scenario-based practice matches at the LCCA Ground, where batters and bowlers are being tested under match-like conditions.
PCB officials said players have been assigned specific objectives during practice games. Batters are being challenged with different match situations, while bowlers are working on tactical plans designed to improve decision-making and execution. Coaches are closely monitoring performances to evaluate players’ readiness and adaptability.
Meanwhile, promising young batter Shahzaib Khan has been included in the white-ball camp. The decision highlights the board’s commitment to developing talent across both formats of the game. Training sessions are aimed at refining technical skills and preparing players for international and domestic challenges.
According to reports, the latest additions were partly influenced by fitness concerns involving some camp participants. Sources indicated that Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan are dealing with fitness issues, prompting selectors to call up additional players. The expanded squad will provide management with greater flexibility as assessments continue during the camp.
