CJP represents Pakistan at St Petersburg legal forum

The Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, represented Pakistan at the XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPILF) held in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, one of the world’s leading international forums dedicated to the promotion of legal cooperation, judicial dialogue, and the rule of law.

During the Forum, the Chief Justice participated in high-level discussions with eminent jurists, government officials, and legal experts from across the globe on contemporary issues relating to constitutionalism, judicial independence, international legal cooperation, and the evolving role of courts in strengthening democratic institutions, said a press release.

On the sidelines of the Forum, the Chief Justice held a series of important bilateral meetings with distinguished international dignitaries, including Akin Gurlek, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Turkiye; Justice Rustam Pirakhmadovich Mirzozoda, Chief Justice (Chairman of the Supreme Court) of the Republic of Tajikistan; and

Senator Vladimir Chizhov, Head of the Russia-Pakistan Friendship Group in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.

Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Russian Federation was also present on this occasion.

The meetings focused on strengthening judicial cooperation, enhancing institutional collaboration, promoting exchange of legal expertise, and exploring avenues for deeper engagement between Pakistan and partner countries in the fields of constitutional law, judicial administration, and legal education.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice reaffirmed the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan’s commitment to promoting international judicial dialogue and fostering cooperation with constitutional courts, supreme courts, and justice sector institutions worldwide in pursuit of the rule of law, access to justice, and constitutional governance.

The participation of the Chief Justice at the XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum reflects Pakistan’s continued commitment to constructive international legal engagement and reinforces the country’s presence in global judicial and constitutional discourse.
