An Israeli airstrike killed a family of six in Gaza City on Tuesday, according to Palestinian health officials. The Israeli military confirmed the strike and said it was targeting a Hamas operative while reviewing the outcome.
Medics said the strike hit a home in Gaza City’s Sabra neighbourhood, setting it on fire. They identified the victims as Firas Al-Masri, his wife Salsabeel, and their four children.

The Israeli military said the intended target was a Hamas member and added that it was examining the results of the operation. No further official details were immediately released.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said separate strikes since Friday killed three militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad. It said two of them participated in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel and held Israeli hostages.
According to Gaza health officials, more than 1,150 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed since the October ceasefire took effect. Hamas does not routinely disclose the number of its fighters killed.

Additionally, the Israeli military said four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants in Gaza during the same period. Israel says its operations continue to target militant groups despite the ceasefire.
The war began after the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attack on southern Israel that killed about 1,200 people and saw around 250 hostages taken, according to Israeli figures. Gaza health officials say Israel’s subsequent military campaign has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians, while nearly two million residents remain displaced across the coastal enclave.
