RCB, KKR clash in do-or-die IPL 2025 showdown at chinnaswamy

Published on: May 17, 2025 6:02 PM

BENGALURU – The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is set to host one of the most anticipated matches of IPL 2025 as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) face off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 58 on Saturday, May 17. The match, scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST, carries high stakes for both sides as the tournament enters its final stretch.

RCB have been in strong form this season, securing eight wins from eleven matches and sitting second on the points table. They are just one victory away from confirming their place in the playoffs. Meanwhile, KKR, the defending champions, have had a rough campaign. With only five wins from eleven games, they must win this match to stay in playoff contention.

As the clash nears, three players have captured the spotlight. Virat Kohli has led RCB’s charge with 505 runs in 11 matches at an average of 63.12, including seven fifties. He remains just six runs behind the Orange Cap leader and is expected to deliver another big performance at his home ground.

KKR’s Sunil Narine has been crucial with both bat and ball. He has scored 215 runs at a strike rate of 167.96 and taken 10 wickets so far. Narine’s consistent all-round performances have been one of the few positives in KKR’s otherwise challenging season.

Meanwhile, English opener Phil Salt, who missed the last game due to illness, is set to return to the KKR lineup. He has already scored 239 runs in nine innings and is known for his explosive starts. Facing his former team at a high-scoring venue, Salt’s comeback could be key for KKR in this must-win encounter.
