Israel bombs Iranian missile sites as Trump demands ‘unconditional surrender’

Published on: June 18, 2025 12:47 PM

Tensions in the Middle East have reached a boiling point as Israel launched heavy airstrikes on Iranian missile facilities, targeting key military locations near Tehran. The Israeli military reported that Iran had fired two waves of missiles early Wednesday morning, prompting a swift and intense response. Residents of southwest Tehran were urgently told to evacuate before Israeli jets struck nearly 20 military sites, including the Khojir missile facility and a university linked to the Revolutionary Guards.

As explosions rocked Tel Aviv and Tehran, panic spread across Iran’s major cities. Thousands of civilians attempted to flee, clogging highways and forcing road closures. In the city of Rey, Iranian forces clashed with unidentified gunmen believed to be linked to Israel. At the same time, Israeli cyberattacks reportedly paralyzed Iran’s digital infrastructure, forcing Iranian leaders to ban all official communication via mobile devices.

Adding to the pressure, former U.S. President Donald Trump took to social media, demanding Iran’s “unconditional surrender” and warning that American patience was “wearing thin.” Though Trump claimed there were no current plans to target Iran’s Supreme Leader, his comments hinted at possible U.S. military involvement. Behind closed doors, Trump met with his National Security Council to discuss options, including potential strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Meanwhile, the conflict has already claimed hundreds of lives. Iran confirmed 224 deaths, mostly civilians, while Israel reported 24 civilian casualties. Underground shelters in cities like Ramat Gan are now crowded with terrified residents seeking safety from constant missile threats. Global concerns continue to grow, especially after Israeli strikes hit the Natanz nuclear enrichment site and endangered the South Pars gas field shared by Iran and Qatar.

The United Nations nuclear watchdog, IAEA, recently declared Iran in breach of its nuclear obligations, intensifying fears of a regional nuclear escalation. Despite this, Iran insists its program is peaceful. Israel, however, vows to continue its campaign until Iran’s nuclear ambitions are halted. As airstrikes continue and diplomacy falters, the region braces for what could become an even more dangerous chapter in Middle Eastern conflict.
