Maryam Nawaz hails women joining border military police

Published on: August 2, 2025 2:27 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has praised the brave women who recently joined the Border Military Police in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan. She called their achievement a historic moment, as 53 women officially became part of a force that was once completely male-dominated. Her appreciation came through a heartfelt message shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Maryam stated that the presence of women in this force was once unimaginable, but now, courageous women are stepping into the role of protectors with pride and strength. This significant move reflects a growing shift toward gender inclusion in areas previously considered off-limits for women. She highlighted that their dedication marks a turning point for the region.

Moreover, the chief minister expressed her joy at seeing these women in uniform, ready to serve and protect their communities. She emphasized how their entry into the force shows the changing mindset of society, where old restrictions are being broken. These women are now a symbol of progress and empowerment in southern Punjab.

The CM noted that these female recruits had broken free from outdated customs and were setting a bold example for future generations. Their decision to join the Border Military Police will not only strengthen law enforcement but also inspire other young women to pursue careers in fields once dominated by men.

This initiative also aligns with Maryam Nawaz’s broader vision for gender equality and women’s empowerment across Punjab. Her government has consistently pushed for policies and programs that uplift women in both urban and rural areas. This milestone is another step in making that vision a reality.

As more women join the ranks of the Border Military Police, the message is clear—courage and capability know no gender. These trailblazing women are paving the way for a stronger, more inclusive future in Pakistan’s security forces.
