Russian strikes kill 2 as fighting spreads to Dnipropetrovsk

Published on: August 29, 2025 5:21 PM

Russian forces launched deadly overnight strikes on Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, killing two people and injuring several others. The attack hit the Synelnyky district, where a man and a woman died. Sergiy Lysak, the regional military head, confirmed the deaths and extended condolences to the victims’ families. A 50-year-old woman was also injured in the drone strike. The attack marked a serious escalation in a region that had mostly remained quiet.

In a separate incident, Russian missiles targeted the city of Dnipro, injuring two more people. One of the victims, a 46-year-old man, is in serious condition. Authorities are working to assess damage and assist those affected. Emergency services responded quickly to the scenes. These strikes follow a growing pattern of intensified Russian attacks in new areas.

Until recently, Dnipropetrovsk was not on the frontlines of the war. However, Ukraine admitted this week that Russian troops had entered the region. Russia had already claimed advances there last month. This shift signals Moscow’s growing ambitions beyond its previously declared targets.

Although Russia has officially claimed five Ukrainian regions—Donetsk, Kherson, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Crimea—it is now pushing into central Ukraine. Since July, Moscow has said it captured several settlements in Dnipropetrovsk. The Ukrainian military is working to stop further advances.

As the war spreads, global concern continues to rise. Previous attacks damaged European Union and British offices, prompting sharp international responses. Ukraine has called for more support to protect its territory. The situation remains critical as Russian forces intensify their operations.
