SBP closed on Sept 6 for Eid Milad-un-Nabi

Published on: September 5, 2025 4:15 PM

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced it will close on Saturday, September 6, 2025. This closure is for Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The day corresponds to the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal in the Islamic lunar calendar. The bank’s closure allows staff and customers to observe the religious occasion.

Earlier, the Sindh government declared two public holidays on September 5 and 6 for the same event. Following this, the federal government announced a public holiday on September 6 nationwide. These announcements ensure citizens have time to participate in celebrations and prayers.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed that the moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal was not sighted earlier. As a result, the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal falls on September 6 this year. This date is significant for Muslims worldwide, as they honor the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Eid Milad-un-Nabi is an important Islamic festival observed by Muslims around the world. They hold prayers, organize processions, and engage in charitable acts to celebrate the Prophet’s life and teachings. The holiday strengthens community bonds and promotes peace and spirituality.

Finally, government offices and many businesses will remain closed on September 6. People are advised to plan their banking and official work accordingly. This closure reflects respect for the cultural and religious traditions of Pakistan.
