Punjab govt, flour mills agree to control flour prices

Published on: September 9, 2025 5:16 PM

The Punjab government and flour mill owners have reached an important agreement to control flour prices. After talks, mill owners agreed to supply limited amounts of flour to the market. This decision will allow about 800 flour mills across Punjab to reopen immediately. The mills will provide 10 and 20 kg bags of flour at government-set prices starting today. This move aims to make flour affordable and available for the public.

Furthermore, the government will supply flour mills with 100,000 tons of wheat each month. This steady supply will help mills maintain consistent flour production. It will also reduce price fluctuations caused by wheat shortages. This cooperation shows the government’s commitment to solving the price crisis. The government wants to ensure that flour remains accessible to all citizens.

In addition, two multinational companies have agreed to supply 2.5 million bags of wheat to Punjab. These companies will sell wheat at Rs. 3000 per maund. Their participation will strengthen the wheat supply chain in the province. Today, company representatives will meet with the Director General of Food. They will finalize the quantity and delivery process to ensure smooth operations.

This agreement follows recent challenges in flour prices due to supply shortages and rising costs. The government has taken steps to prevent price hikes and stabilize the market. Both sides showed willingness to work together for the public good. The deal reflects a shared goal of protecting consumers from inflation. It also restores confidence in the local flour market.

In conclusion, this pact between Punjab’s government and flour mills promises relief for consumers. It ensures that flour will be sold at controlled prices and in proper quantities. Citizens can expect better availability of affordable flour soon. Authorities will monitor the situation to maintain stability. This collaboration marks a positive step toward economic balance in Punjab.
