Maryam opens Murree cardiac centre, announces new projects

Published on: October 1, 2025 5:50 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the Nawaz Sharif Cardiac Centre at Samli Sanatorium Hospital in Murree on Wednesday, marking a major milestone in healthcare access for the hill station’s residents. She said Murree was like a second home after Lahore and emphasized her strong emotional attachment with the area.

During her address, the chief minister explained that previously there had been no local facility for heart treatment in Murree and nearby regions. Patients often had to travel urgently to Rawalpindi, risking their lives due to delays. She stressed that the new facility was established to provide immediate treatment and save lives in emergencies.

Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the Samli Sanatorium Hospital has been upgraded for the first time since 1930. She said the new cardiac centre began operations within months, reflecting her government’s commitment to delivering on promises through concrete actions.

In addition to the hospital project, she announced a large-scale initiative to solve Murree’s long-standing water shortages. She criticized the previous PTI government for what she described as irresponsible exploitation of Murree’s forests, saying that her administration would implement corrective and sustainable measures.

Furthermore, she revealed plans for a new train service between Murree and Rawalpindi to improve travel convenience for both residents and visitors. Alongside this, she announced the introduction of green buses in Murree to promote environmentally friendly transportation options.
