Bilawal meets JUI-F Chief Fazl amid AJK shift

Published on: October 27, 2025 8:00 PM

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari met JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday. They discussed the country’s political landscape and key national issues. The meeting took place at Rehman’s residence in Islamabad, with PPP leaders Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Humayun Khan, and Jamil Soomro also attending. JUI-F’s Maulana Asad Mahmood represented his party.

The discussion comes amid political turmoil in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Ten PTI-elected legislators joined the PPP on Sunday, boosting its chances of forming the ruling party. This shift has changed the dynamics in the 53-member AJK assembly. The PPP now commands support from 27 members, followed by PML-N with nine, PTI with five, and two regional parties with one member each.

State-run APP reported that Bilawal and Fazlur Rehman also exchanged views on national matters of mutual interest. The leaders emphasized cooperation to address political instability and economic challenges affecting Pakistan. They highlighted the importance of dialogue to stabilize governance and ensure smooth administration.

Separately, JUI-F announced plans for a long march in Islamabad. The party also intends nationwide gatherings to protest government policies causing inflation, unemployment, and public hardships. Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri criticized the government for being disconnected from public issues.
