Lahore Digital Arts Festival opens its fourth edition ‘Breathing Algorithms’

Published on: November 7, 2025 1:04 AM

The Lahore Digital Arts Festival (LDF) opened its fourth edition, ‘Breathing Algorithms,’ on Thursday at the Alliance Française Lahore, reaffirming its commitment to fostering dialogue between art and digital innovation.

Co-curated by Najamul Assar and Sarah Rajper, Breathing Algorithms is conceived as a space where artists, technologists and thinkers reimagine algorithms as instruments of empathy, care and climate consciousness. The opening event is free and open to the public, inviting audiences to experience a unique convergence of art, technology and ecology.

Presented in collaboration with Novembre Numérique, the French Embassy in Pakistan and the Alliance Française de Lahore, the festival runs until Sunday across multiple venues in Lahore.

This year’s edition explores the intersections of artificial intelligence, climate change and cultural identity, featuring new media works, interactive installations and virtual reality experiences by artists from over seven countries. Visitors can expect thought-provoking projects addressing environmental degradation, digital ethics, gender and the future of creativity in an algorithmic age.

Participating artists include Aamina Hashmi, Areesha Khuwaja, Bahman Fakouri, Fajr Faisal, Hamza Bajwa, Haris Hidayatullah, Huzaifa Ahmad, Isabelle Arvers, John Desnoyers-Stewart, M4HK, Megan Smith, Mikhail Margolis, Miraal Habib, Mishaim Gardezi, Muhammad Bux, Samina Kausar Ansari, Ujala Khan and Zuha Farooq. Exhibitions and public programmes will take place across multiple venues in Lahore, including the Alliance Française Lahore, Aangun Cultural Centre, R Space and Beaconhouse National University.
