ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Customs on Wednesday foiled a major smuggling attempt, recovering 15.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine worth Rs910 million from a passenger bus in Dera Ismail Khan.

According to a statement issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Customs Enforcement team intercepted the narcotics during a routine inspection at IP-JCP Aman Mela. The meth, of foreign origin, was found concealed inside three specially designed inverters placed in the bus. The driver and conductor were arrested on the spot, and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against them.

Officials said the seized drugs were being transported to the State Warehouse when the Customs convoy came under attack by unidentified gunmen who opened fire on the vehicles. The Customs personnel, however, responded swiftly, ensuring the safety of both the officers and the recovered narcotics.

Authorities praised the enforcement team for their vigilance and timely action, saying the successful operation reflects Pakistan Customs’ ongoing commitment to curbing drug trafficking and safeguarding national borders. Further investigation into the smuggling network is underway.
