OGDCL hits oil: Pasakhi-14 well starts production in Hyderabad

Published on: November 14, 2025 7:01 PM

OGDCL has begun producing 1,100 barrels of oil per day from its Pasakhi-14 well in Hyderabad. The well is part of the company’s Pasakhi & Pasakhi North Development Lease. This milestone strengthens Pakistan’s national energy output and enhances shareholder value.

The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced the production start through a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Friday. The Pasakhi-14 well, drilled to 2,183 meters, targets the hydrocarbon-rich upper sands of the Lower Goru formation. Using advanced drilling technologies, including Rotary Steerable System (RSS), Electromagnetic Measurement While Drilling (MWD), and a nitrified mud system, the company ensured precise control and formation preservation.

OGDCL also deployed state-of-the-art Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) technology in the well. The company highlighted its commitment to efficient exploration, drilling, and production optimization to strengthen Pakistan’s energy security. With 100% working interest in the lease, OGDCL effectively managed the project in-house from delineation to testing.

The company emphasized that the Pasakhi-14 development reflects OGDCL’s strategy to deliver shareholder value while contributing to national energy needs. The well is part of OGDCL’s broader production activities in Sindh, where it recently boosted output from the Kunnar Oil Field.

Incorporated in 1997, OGDCL is Pakistan’s largest oil and gas exploration company. It undertakes exploration, development, and production of hydrocarbon resources nationwide. The company originated from the Oil and Gas Development Corporation established in 1961 and remains pivotal in meeting Pakistan’s energy demands.
