KARACHI – The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) elections are taking place today, with Barrister Zulfiqar Jalbani serving as the election commissioner overseeing the process.

According to the election authorities, a total of 8,478 lawyers are eligible to cast their votes in this year’s polls. The elections will decide key positions including president, vice president, general secretary, treasurer, and other office-bearers.
For the president’s post, Barristers Sarfaraz Metlo, Haseeb Jamali, and Wahab Baloch are contesting. The position of vice president sees eight candidates vying for the seat, while Fareeda Mangrio, Barrister Imran Mithani, and Mirza Sarfaraz are in the race for general secretary.

The treasurer’s position is being contested by Liaqat Ali and Nematullah Shah. For joint secretary Karachi, the candidates include Fida Hussain, Huzaifa Khan, and R.B. Qureshi. Meanwhile, the post of additional joint secretary for ladies affairs has three contenders: Fozia Mushtaq, Roop Mala Singh Rajput, and Rakhshanda Waheed.
In addition, 27 candidates are competing for nine seats on the managing committee, reflecting the high level of participation and interest among SHC lawyers. The results of these elections are expected to shape the leadership of the bar association for the coming term.
