Thousands of Pakistanis have been deported from different countries for involvement in begging, officials revealed during a parliamentary committee meeting. The disclosures highlighted growing international concerns over illegal travel and misuse of visas by Pakistani nationals.

The details emerged during a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Rights, chaired by Agha Rafiullah. Senior officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) briefed lawmakers on recent enforcement measures and deportation trends.
The Director General of the FIA informed the committee that around 51,000 Pakistanis were offloaded from various countries this year. Saudi Arabia deported the highest number, expelling nearly 24,000 individuals on charges of begging.

The United Arab Emirates deported around 6,000 Pakistanis for similar reasons, while Azerbaijan sent back approximately 2,500 individuals. Authorities said these deportations followed strict monitoring and verification by host countries.
The DG FIA further disclosed that some travelers attempted to reach Europe under the guise of performing Umrah. These individuals were offloaded after being found in possession of European travel documents, indicating intentions of illegal onward migration.
The committee was also informed about suspicious travel patterns to Southeast Asia. Around 24,000 Pakistanis traveled to Cambodia this year, but nearly half have not returned, while 2,500 out of 4,000 tourists to Myanmar remain unaccounted for.
Officials noted that tighter controls have improved Pakistan’s passport ranking from 118 to 92 globally. Illegal migration to Europe has reportedly declined, with the number dropping from 8,000 last year to 4,000 this year.

The committee was told that Saudi Arabia has deported a total of 56,000 Pakistanis for begging so far. New measures include visa-free access for official passport holders to Dubai and Germany, along with an upcoming e-immigration application system.
