Kyiv, 22 December 2025: Russian forces launched new strikes on the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa overnight. Authorities said Moscow is targeting maritime logistics and energy infrastructure. The attacks cut electricity to over 120,000 subscribers, officials added.
Ukraine’s Reconstruction Minister Oleksiy Kuleba said the strikes are “systematic” and aim to destroy port and energy facilities. Bridges, ports, and power lines in the Black Sea region have faced repeated attacks. Energy company DTEK is working to restore power amid ongoing air raid sirens.

Over the past week, the southern region endured more than 500 attacks, primarily on port infrastructure. The strikes follow Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil tankers. Moscow threatened to cut Ukraine off from the sea in retaliation.
Since the start of the war, Russia has regularly targeted ports and vessels. Ukraine has maintained a grain export corridor and used missiles and drones to sink Russian warships.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attacks aim to sow chaos and exert moral pressure on Odesa residents. He emphasized that Russia’s actions are designed to disrupt logistics and winter life in southern Ukraine.
