Sarfaraz slams India after Pakistan’s U19 Asia Cup triumph

Published on: December 22, 2025 11:15 PM

Pakistan Under-19 cricket team claimed their first ACC U19 Asia Cup title, defeating India by 191 runs. Pakistan defended a massive 348-run target and bowled India out for 156 in 26.2 overs at the ICC Academy in Dubai.

Team mentor and former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed criticised India’s behaviour during the final, calling it “unethical” and against the spirit of cricket. He praised Pakistan’s players for responding with professionalism and sportsmanship.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a cash reward of Rs10 million for each player. A hero’s welcome was held in Islamabad, with a luncheon hosted by the Prime Minister and attended by PCB officials and federal ministers.

Sarfaraz highlighted standout performances, including Sameer Minhas’ 172 off 113 balls and Ahmed Hussain’s composed 56 off 72 deliveries. He emphasised the team’s collective effort and strong middle-order contributions.

Head coach Shahid Anwar explained that the team underwent rigorous trials and a ten-day training camp in Karachi. Former cricketers helped fine-tune skills and build mental resilience. Pakistan’s dominant performance reflects the country’s growing strength at the junior cricket level.
