Financial Times calls Field Marshal Asim Munir “Middle-Power Expert”

Published on: December 23, 2025 5:00 PM

British publication Financial Times has recognized Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, as a skilled strategist in multilateral foreign policy, praising his ability to navigate complex global dynamics effectively.

The report highlights his role as a capable leader in an evolving international system, noting his strategic foresight and diplomatic agility.

According to the report, changing global politics have created a challenging environment for middle powers, yet Field Marshal Munir has emerged as one of the most successful “multi-aligners,” maintaining balanced relations with Washington, Beijing, Riyadh, and Tehran simultaneously. His diplomacy has strengthened Pakistan’s global positioning amid shifting alliances.

The Financial Times specifically commended Munir’s alignment with former US President Donald Trump, citing his timely communication and diplomatic tact, which contributed to Pakistan’s strategic wins while creating challenges for India’s middle-power aspirations. Analysts say India struggled to adjust to evolving global conditions and Trump’s diplomatic style, highlighting Pakistan’s comparative advantage under Munir’s leadership.
