Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has invited bids for the Multan Sultans franchise ahead of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL). The board took over the team last month after owner Ali Tareen stepped down. The 11th edition of the PSL is scheduled from March 26 to May 3.
The technical bid proposal is set for January 20, 2026, at 3 pm. The PCB said the process presents an opportunity for investors to participate in the “new era” of the HBL PSL. Multan Sultans has an established fan base and history in the league since 2018.

Ali Tareen stepped away after the PCB did not extend a renewal offer for his ownership. He expressed on social media that his tenure was about representing South Punjab and giving a voice to the region. He confirmed neither he nor his family would participate in the PSL auction.
The development follows the addition of two new franchises last week. OZ Developers bid Rs1.85 billion for Sialkot, while FKS Group secured Hyderabad for Rs1.75 billion. Other potential cities for future franchises include Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Rawalpindi.
