Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar marries in Lahore

Lahore hosted a high-profile wedding as Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, married Shanzeh Ali Rohail during a well-guarded ceremony attended by leading political figures. The event quickly became a major social moment because of the family’s political standing and national influence. Moreover, tight security and careful planning reflected the importance of the gathering. As a result, the wedding drew wide public attention.

The Nikah ceremony took place in Lahore and was solemnised by Mufti Raghib Naeemi, who currently chairs the Islamic Ideology Council. The dower was fixed at Rs125,000, following traditional and religious customs. Meanwhile, close family members gathered quietly for prayers. Consequently, the ceremony remained dignified despite its scale.

Senior political leaders, including former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, attended the wedding alongside ministers, party leaders, and relatives. Their presence turned the celebration into a rare political reunion. In addition, several international guests joined the festivities. Therefore, the event blended personal joy with political visibility.

The bride, Shanzeh Ali Rohail, belongs to a respected political family and is the granddaughter of Sheikh Rohail Asghar. The groom’s procession arrived at a private housing society, with rose petals decorating the vehicle. Earlier, the Mehndi ceremony took place at Jati Umra, attended by close relatives only. Meanwhile, security remained strict throughout.

Wedding celebrations will conclude with the Walima ceremony scheduled for Sunday at Jati Umra, where around eight hundred guests are expected. Authorities coordinated closely to ensure smooth arrangements and controlled access. As festivities end, the family expressed gratitude to guests for their presence. Ultimately, the wedding marked a significant personal milestone within one of Pakistan’s most prominent political families.
