Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said government measures cut illegal immigration by 47 percent. He called the decline a result of strict enforcement and policy reforms. He termed illegal travel a serious national issue.
Naqvi made the remarks during a meeting with US Ambassador Natalie Baker. The Ministry of Interior confirmed the meeting on Saturday. Both sides discussed strengthening Pakistan–US relations and mutual cooperation.

The talks focused on curbing illegal immigration and improving the pre-immigration clearance system. Both countries agreed to expand cooperation at multiple levels. Training for law enforcement agencies, especially police, remained a key area.
They also agreed on joint action against fake and fraudulent visa networks. Naqvi said the government follows a zero-tolerance policy against agent mafias. He added he is personally overseeing operations against such networks.

The minister said passports were made more secure using modern technology. He said a strong crackdown continues against illegal travel to the US. Ambassador Baker said Washington values ties with Pakistan and supports deeper cooperation.
