Kazakhstan president to visit Pakistan today

Published on: February 3, 2026 3:33 AM

The president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, will arrive in Islamabad today (Tuesday) on his first official visit to Pakistan, signaling a push to strengthen bilateral ties and regional cooperation.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, President Tokayev is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The visit is being seen as a significant diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

Officials say the visit reflects the shared desire of both countries to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors. The Kazakh president will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior ministers and top government officials. The presence of key policymakers is expected to give momentum to discussions on strategic and economic cooperation.

The delegation’s visit underlines Kazakhstan’s intent to broaden engagement with Pakistan at the governmental and institutional levels.

During his stay, President Tokayev is likely to hold important meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif. These discussions will focus on reviewing the current state of bilateral relations. The talks are also expected to explore new avenues for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

President Tokayev will also address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum, where business leaders and investors from both sides are expected to participate. The forum aims to encourage stronger economic engagement and private-sector partnerships.

According to the Foreign Office, special emphasis will be placed on promoting trade, logistics, regional connectivity and people-to-people contacts. The Foreign Office spokesperson said the visit reflects a shared vision of peace, stability and development in the region. Officials believe the engagement will help identify fresh opportunities for cooperation and strengthen long-term relations between the two countries.
