Imran Khan barred from personal doctors

Published on: February 7, 2026 4:30 PM

An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi rejected Imran Khan’s request for a medical check-up by personal doctors. The court ruled that jail authorities are already providing proper treatment. The decision was announced on Saturday.

The verdict came after the court heard arguments from both sides. ATC Judge Syed Amjad Ali Shah had earlier reserved the decision. Later, he formally dismissed the plea filed by the former prime minister.

Imran Khan had sought permission to be examined by his personal physicians. These included Dr Asim, Dr Khurram, and Dr Samina. The defense argued that this was his constitutional and legal right.

Defense lawyers cited past cases to support their argument. They referred to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who was allowed personal doctors. They also said jail rules require authorities to inform families about medical matters.

However, the court disagreed with the defense position. It ruled that jail rules confirm Imran Khan is receiving adequate medical care. Therefore, the court found no justification for outside doctors and rejected the request.
