Rashid Khan dreams of Kabul home debut

Published on: February 7, 2026 9:30 PM

Afghan cricketer Rahmanullah Gurbaz has officially withdrawn from Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11. He shared the announcement in a video on Instagram in Pashto, citing personal commitments as the main reason. Gurbaz emphasized that he will return to Afghanistan after the upcoming Cricket World Cup and will not participate in PSL 11 matches.

Gurbaz was signed directly by Peshawar Zalmi ahead of the player auction for PSL 11. The franchise confirmed the signing on February 5 via social media, sharing a promotional poster showing Gurbaz in traditional attire against a scenic mountain backdrop. The financial details of the contract were not disclosed.

In his video message, the aggressive Afghan opener explained that his decision was driven by personal and professional priorities. He thanked his fans for their unwavering support and love throughout his career, assuring them that he values their encouragement and will continue to perform for Afghanistan in international cricket.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been a key figure in Afghanistan’s cricket setup, known for his attacking style and crucial performances in T20 leagues worldwide. His absence will leave a gap in Peshawar Zalmi’s batting lineup, prompting the team to consider alternative strategies and replacements for the upcoming season.
