Apple delays updated Siri rollout to later iOS updates

Published on: February 12, 2026 3:00 PM

Apple's next-gen Siri rollout postponed amid testing issues: Report

Apple has announced yet another delay for its long-awaited update to Siri, its AI-driven virtual assistant, disappointing fans who have been anticipating enhancements since 2024. The company had first unveiled Apple Intelligence, promising a revamped Siri with expanded AI capabilities, but the rollout has faced multiple postponements over the past year and a half.

Originally, the new Siri was expected to debut with the iOS 26.4 update in March. However, reports now indicate that Apple will implement the improvements gradually, with some features potentially delayed until the May iOS update—or even the launch of iOS 27 in September. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman noted that complications during testing have required additional revisions and inspections, contributing to the prolonged timeline.

The updated Siri is designed to bring Apple’s virtual assistant closer to the functionality of popular large language model (LLM) chatbots like ChatGPT and Claude. Users will eventually be able to interact with Siri in a more conversational manner directly on their iPhone or MacBook, eliminating the need to access separate third-party apps. The assistant will be powered by Google Gemini, promising enhanced comprehension, contextual responses, and smarter AI-driven interactions.

Apple enthusiasts had high expectations for the updated assistant, anticipating improvements such as more natural speech responses, expanded knowledge, and the ability to handle complex tasks. Yet, as delays continue, the company faces pressure to deliver a competitive AI experience while maintaining the reliability and privacy standards Apple is known for.

The gradual release plan suggests that Apple is taking a cautious approach to ensure that the new Siri performs as intended without compromising security or user experience. While fans remain eager for the update, they will need to wait several more months before enjoying the full suite of features promised in the next-generation virtual assistant.
