Aleema Khan demands justice over Imran Khan’s eye treatment

Published on: February 13, 2026 11:00 AM

ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, sister of Imran Khan, has issued a stern ultimatum after a report by Salman Safdar highlighted serious delays in medical treatment for the PTI founder’s deteriorating eye sight.

Speaking to the media, Aleema Khan said, “Enough drama has taken place, we want justice,” emphasizing that the demand is solely to ensure her brother receives proper medical care. She acknowledged past failings, stating, “We all have failed the founder of PTI; we could not do what was needed for him.”

“Our sole demand regarding Imran Khan is rooted in basic humanitarian principles and human rights: that he receives a precise diagnosis and treatment from medical specialists qualified to manage his specific condition.”

According to Aleema, Imran Khan repeatedly informed authorities about his eye issues over the past three months, but Jail Superintendent Abdul Ghafoor Anjum allegedly failed to ensure proper treatment. Despite continuous monitoring through 10 cameras, she claimed adequate action was not taken and suggested that some individuals deliberately allowed his condition to worsen.

The Supreme Court responded to the plea, issuing an order mandating that Imran Khan’s medical treatment be conducted before February 16. Aleema thanked the Chief Justice for acting on the matter.

The seven-page report by Salman Safdar, submitted as part of the court proceedings, recommended immediate examination of Imran Khan’s eyes by experts, including Dr. Faisal Sultan and Dr. Asim Yousuf, and suggested an ophthalmologist could also assess the condition. The report revealed that Imran’s right eye now has only 10–15 percent vision, after prior complaints went unheeded. Safdar also recommended providing reading material to Imran Khan due to his solitary confinement and lack of access to a television.

The Supreme Court had appointed Salman Safdar as amicus curiae, or “friend of the court,” granting him permission to meet Imran Khan at Adiala Jail to assess his health conditions and submit the findings.
