Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has praised law enforcement agencies for a sharp decline in crime across the province, crediting the improvement to the government’s focused strategy. She stated that effective planning and coordinated policing under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz have significantly strengthened law and order in many districts. According to officials, the new approach emphasizes stronger surveillance, rapid response, and better coordination among departments. Consequently, the province has witnessed noticeable progress in maintaining public safety.
Azma Bukhari highlighted the critical role played by the Crime Control Department (CCD) and Punjab Police in achieving this decline. She explained that both institutions have worked closely to track criminal networks and improve preventive policing measures. Their combined efforts, she said, have helped authorities control various forms of street crime and other illegal activities. As a result, citizens in many parts of Punjab are experiencing a safer environment compared to previous years.

Furthermore, the minister stated that crime statistics across several districts show encouraging trends, with even minor daily offenses declining noticeably. She added that public trust in the CCD has grown due to its swift actions against criminal elements. Because of this increasing public confidence, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has decided to further strengthen the CCD and develop it into a leading law enforcement agency in the province.
Azma Bukhari also emphasized that improving public safety remains a key priority of the provincial government. She noted that the administration is determined to create an environment where citizens, especially women, feel secure in public spaces. According to her statement, the protection of women has been declared a “red line,” and authorities will take strict action against anyone involved in harassment or misconduct.

Meanwhile, the minister said Punjab Police officers and personnel have received clear instructions to treat citizens with respect and professionalism. Officials have directed police staff to address the public politely, using respectful terms such as “Sir” and “Janab” during interactions. This approach aims to strengthen trust between citizens and law enforcement while improving the overall image of the police force.
