Karachi braces for hot, dry weather with rising temperatures

Published on: March 15, 2026 2:31 PM

Karachi is set to experience hot and dry weather over the next 24 hours, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported, as temperatures rise and humidity remains high across the city. Residents are advised to take precautions during peak afternoon hours.

Currently, the temperature in Karachi stands at 21°C, while the PMD forecasts a maximum of 38°C later in the day. The high temperature combined with humidity is likely to make conditions feel warmer than the actual reading.

Officials said that northeasterly winds are blowing at a moderate speed of 5 kilometers per hour, which may provide slight relief but will not significantly reduce the heat. The PMD urged citizens to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.

Humidity in the city is currently around 89 percent, making the air feel heavy and contributing to the discomfort for residents. This combination of heat and moisture can intensify the feeling of warmth during the hottest hours of the day.

The PMD advised that outdoor activities should be limited, especially for children, elderly individuals, and those with health conditions. Travelers and commuters were also cautioned to plan their movements carefully to avoid heat-related illnesses.

Authorities emphasized monitoring weather updates throughout the day, as conditions could change slightly with shifting winds and temperatures. Citizens were encouraged to follow official advisories and take preventive measures to remain safe during the hot, dry spell.
